The Light Your Life Charity Music Concert Opens in Hong Kong

2017-11-19

On 18th November, Mr. Yanbin, Chairman of Reignwood Group, together with  social elites from political, commercial, educational, cultural and other sectors, attended the Light Your Life charity concert held in Hong Kong in support of music and art education for the poor and disabled children from mainland China and Hong Kong.

This concert was initiated by Chinese famous pianist and music educator, Liu Shikun who specifically invited Mr. Yanbin and four children from Zhuxi county of Shiyan in Hubei Province, to share the stories of Reignwood’s progress in reducing poverty.

During the concert, the four children from Zhuxi together performed a song about love to express their gratitude. This performance left each and every member of the audience deeply touched, especially Mr. Liu Shikun who committed to doing more for the music education of children from the poor areas of China.

After taking the stage Mr. Yanbin said, “These children are from Shiyan in Hubei Province. In order to enable people in Beijing access to clean water, people there have given up many opportunities for economic development. We are obligated to help them. That’s why we have brought in the well-known Voss water to China, and are building water plants in Zhuxi, aiming to develop local economy in an ecological way and help alleviate poverty in the region.”

On 25th May, 2017, due to the efforts of Reignwood Culture Foundation and Voss Foundation, the painting Green in Zhuxi and another painting by local children were brought to the Voss charity auction held in London. The money raised at the auction will be used to help the poverty-stricken Sub-Africa area build wells for local people, thus passing Zhuxi’s love on to Africa.

To show thanks to Zhuxi’s children, Dr. Chanchai has decided to set up the Love Sharing Special Education Fund under the Reignwood Culture Foundation and the first batch of fund has helped fund 109 teachers and students living in poverty.

Besides the poverty reduction project in Zhuxi, Reignwood Culture Foundation has also explored and established other poverty reduction projects in other areas of China. For example, in the Tumd Left Banner, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, it has established the special education fund for the education of young people to help fund poor students’ studies and comprehensive development, and training and rewarding project for the excellent teachers there.
