The 2018 Conference on Overseas Chinese Pioneering and Developing in China (COCPDC) was held Wuhan, capital of central China’s Hubei Province, on November 21-23. Themed with "mass innovation among overseas Chinese and shared development", this conference is a significant exchange platform for promoting the cooperation of global talents, technologies, economic talks and investments, attracting over 1000 guests from home and abroad. Chairman Yanbin was invited to attend this conference and exchanged his views with other guests on the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the Belt and Road Initiative.
Talking about the topic of "the opportunities brought by the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt to overseas Chinese entrepreneurs", Chairman Yan Bin stressed that “This year marks the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up. As an entrepreneur who has been engaged in the real economy for more than 40 years, 20 years at overseas and 20 years in China, I have experienced the important development process of reform and opening up; and I am a witness, participant, promoter and beneficiary of the reform and opening up.” In the past 40 years of reform and opening up, a vast number of overseas Chinese entrepreneurs have made important contributions to the country. They brought advanced science and technology, management experience and senior talents to the country. At the same time, they have also achieved great development through the reform, and it can be said that a win-win situation has been achieved.
Reignwood has taken initiatives to explore the establishment of green finance funds, green bonds and green finance certification for infrastructure construction. In 2017, the first “Green Finance Multilateral Cooperation Seminar” hosted by Beijing Reignwood Cultural Foundation and China-Europe Entrepreneurs Association was held in Reignwood Pine Valley. On November 26th, Reignwood Group and Climate Bonds Initiative will jointly hold the Belt and Road Initiative and Green Finance Development Forum in London, UK, to discuss about the Belt and Road financial development and green investment.
Sticking to the concept of ecological and green development, Reignwood Group takes initiatives to integrate its development with high quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt. Zhuxi County in Hubei Province is the water source of middle section of China’s South-to-North Water Diversion project and also a key national ecological defense where the water resource is abundant. However, many people in this region were still living in poverty. By introducing world’s famous water brand into the region and taking advantages of local water resources, Reignwood has injected great vigor and vitality to the region’s economy and contributed to targeted poverty alleviation and elimination.
Till now, Reignwood has invested over 1 billion yuan on the VOSS mineral water project and created 380 million yuan tax revenues for local region; and directly and indirectly provided jobs for over 640 people living in poverty. At present, this project has been included in the national industry poverty alleviation project database. In order to strengthen the industrial poverty alleviation, Reignwood built a “poverty alleviation workshop” to inject more interior impetus to this cause and also established a special education fund. Through launching a whole industry chain plan, it has formed a green poverty reduction model integrating education, ecology with industry development, which has helped double local fiscal revenues and benefited more than 400 Zhuxi people.
