Leveraging Hong Kong's Advantages, Meeting the Country's Needs; the Belt and Road General Chamber of Commerce Hosts the Inauguration Ceremony

The Inauguration Ceremony of Belt and Road General Chamber of Commerce was held in Hong Kong in the evening of April 17. The Silk Road Journey Photography Exhibition was on display at the ceremony.

Leung Chun-ying, vice chairman of CPPCC National Committee, Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Wang Zhimin, Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and other distinguished guests hosted this ceremony. Qian Keming, Vice Minister of Commerce, China and Li Pumin, Secretary General of NDRC and other guests attended this ceremony and extended their warm congratulations to the successful convening of this event.

At the ceremony, Mrs. Carrie Lam presented letters of appointment to Mr. Yanbin, chairman of board of supervisors, Mr. Peter Lam, chairman of the Council, Pan Sutong, chairman of the Foundation and Zheng Xiangling, president of the Council.

Mr. Yanbin, Chairman of Reignwood Group, made a toast speech at the stage, showing his gratitude. He said, The Belt and Road Initiative made it possible for us to gather here today, and we should remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind and focus on leveraging Hong Kong’s advantages to meet the country’s needs.

The four initiators initiated the Hong Kong Belt and Road Chamber of Commerce in 2017 in respond to the country’s Belt and Road Initiative. In February, the Seminar on Strategies and Opportunities under the Belt and Road Initiative - Leveraging Hong Kong's advantages, Meeting the Country's needs, hosted by the Hong Kong Government and the Belt and Road General Chamber of Commerce was held in Beijing.

Three major directions of work would include: setting up a database on distribution of Chinese capital in the Belt and Road Initiative, building a civil platform guided by the principle of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits and providing intelligence support for Chinese enterprises to seize the opportunities under the Belt and Road Initiative.

This is the 17th stop on the global tour of the Silk Road Journey Photography Exhibition following the Silk Road Journey - Boao Forum for Asia 2018 Annual Conference Special Exhibition. This exhibition, by way of culture, is deepening both Hong Kong and Mainland’s understanding of Belt and Road Initiative as well as gaining global influence.
