World Reading Day | Starry Sky Amateur Orchestra National Library of China Special Concert

2019-04-24

On the evening of April 24th, hosted by the National Library of China Art Center and the Starry Sky Amateur Orchestra, and sponsored by the National Arts Foundation and Beijing Reignwood Culture Foundation, the "World Reading Day Starry Sky Amateur Orchestra National Library of China Special Concert" was held in Beijing. The concert is aimed at guiding readers and audience to “read classics, learn new knowledge, and pursue a healthy lifestyle” with music.

The performance kicked off with an impassioned single-movement orchestral ensemble "Red Flag", which fully expressed the people's honoring and respect for the heroes. The whole performance combines Chinese and Western styles and features various performance forms. There are the patriotic and lyrical song, "My Motherland and Me ", and the "Swan", which French Saint-Sang was well-known for. As "the most eye-catching youth conductor in today's music circle ", Jin Gang attracts the audience's attention by his eclectic style and elegant performance.

The classic excerpt Spring Bring Us a New World of the modern Peking Opera "Taking the Tiger Mountain by Strategy", sang by Chairman Yan, brought the concert to a new climax with its powerful rhythm. In 2017, this piece, as a signature of infusion of Eastern and Western culture, was jointly performed by Mr. Yan Bin, Domingo and the London Symphony Orchestra at the "When East Meets West" London concert.

Over the years, Reignwood Culture Foundation has been committed to the protection of tangible and intangible cultural heritage, cultural exchanges between the East and the West, youth education and other public welfare undertakings, and has contributed to the areas of targeted poverty alleviation and the development of the “Belt and Road”. In order to carry forward Chinese classic culture and promote the quintessence of Chinese culture, the Foundation has long supported various art and cultural exchange activities of Peking Opera and launched the “Reignwood Asian Young Artists Training Program”.
