Reignwood Group Won the “Annual Poverty Alleviation Award” of the 13th People's Corporate Social Responsibility Award

On December 17, the 2018 People's Corporate Social Responsibility Summit and the 13th People's Corporate Social Responsibility Award were held at People's Daily in Beijing. Reignwood Group won the “Annual Poverty Alleviation Award”, which is one of six awards set up under the People’s Corporate Social Responsibility Award. Those enterprises that won the awards also include China Construction Bank Corporation, Evergrande Group and China Ping An Insurance (Group) Co., Ltd.

Li Jinhua, vice chairman of the 11th CPPCC National Committee, announced the opening of the forum. Zhang Shouying, deputy editor-in-chief of the People's Daily, Xie Jingrong, full-time vice chairman of the National Federation of Industry and Commerce, Mao Yixiang, director of the Information Center of the State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, and Wang Chunyan, deputy director of Social Poverty Alleviation Department under The State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development delivered speeches at the forum.

The People's Corporate Social Responsibility Award was established in 2006 under the guidance of People's Daily, the National Federation of Industry and Commerce, the China Charity Federation, the China Charity Alliance, and hosted by the People.cn. It is the earliest and most influential award on corporate social responsibilities and an important measure of social responsibility of Chinese enterprises.

This year, six awards were set up including the Annual Corporate award, Annual Case award, Annual Figure award, Annual Poverty Alleviation award, Green Development award, and Reform Pioneer award. Among these awards, the Annual Poverty Alleviation award is aimed at selecting those enterprises that has leveraged their own advantages to make outstanding contributions to market growth and income growth of rural people and developing their spirit of contract. Reignwood Group won the award with its “Poverty + Industry + Education” and green poverty alleviation model.

In 2015, Reignwood Group acquired VOSS, a well-known international drinking water brand from Norway. In 2016, the company choose Zhuxi county of Hubei Province as the site of Voss water plant due to the appreciating feeling Chairman Yan has for Hubei People who have made great contributions to the country’s South to North Water Diversion Project. Centering on green development, the company aspires to fill the industrial gap of well-known bottled water brands in Hubei Province by turning the Chinese water from Zhuxi into the World water.

Since 2016, Reignwood Group has combined VOSS water with local resources. The accumulative investment on the project has reached over 1 billion yuan and has an annual production capacity of 250,000 tons.

The “Poverty Alleviation Workshop” of Reignwood VOSS Water Plant, has provided jobs to more than 640 people living in poverty;

Establish a sewage treatment plant using the state-of-the-art technology, build constructed wetlands, and steer away from the zero-sum game of development versus conservation;

The “Love Sharing Foundation ” , a special education fund established by Reignwood Cultural Foundation, offered more opportunities for local poor teachers and students to “see the world”;

Implement the “Full Industry Chain Plan”, and expand the upstream and downstream related supporting industries in the industrial chain to boost the “hematopoietic function” of poverty-stricken areas.

With its fresh and clean taste and its significance in poverty alleviation, VOSS water has won wide recognition from governments and all sectors of society. In 2018, the water source of Reignwood VOSS was rated by National Bureau of Land and Resources as Green Mine. And the VOSS water mineral water project was officially included in the national industrial poverty alleviation program database. In the same year, VOSS water made its appearance at the 26th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting and it also became the designated water for the 2018 Overseas Chinese Pioneering and Developing (COCPDC).
