Pushing Green Development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt

2018-11-22

On November 22, Mr. Yanbin, member of the Population, Resource and Environment Committee of the CPPCC and chairman of Reignwood Group, while mentioning how overseas entrepreneurs should participate in the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, said that they should firmly uphold the development concept that “green mountains and clear water are as good as mountains of gold and silver” and developing green economy and striking a balance between economy development and environmental protection is the prerequisite for high quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt. Overseas entrepreneurs should leverage their advantages in technology and talents and pursue green development, bringing tangible benefits to the river economic belt.

Hubei is a key region along the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the water source of middle section of China’s South-to-North Water Diversion project; therefore, it faces a daunting ecological development task. This year, Reignwood VOSS mineral water project of Sanxia Mountain in Zhuxi, Hubei Province was rated by National Bureau of Land and Resources as Green Mine, which is a successful attempt of enterprises and government taking full advantages of green industry resources to promote sustainable economy development. Through leveraging the advantages of local water resources and accurate docking of international resources platforms by the enterprise, they have helped the ecological resources go out and introduced technology and talents to this region. At the global promotion conference in Hubei in 2018, VOSS natural mineral water produced in Zhuxi made its appearance to the world, and Chinese water produced for the ecological development became the world's water. When reaching its targeted output, the project can created over 400 jobs and 380 million yuan annual tax revenue for the local area.

Speaking of the unbalanced and uncoordinated development of the Yangtze River regions, Yan Bin said that regional economic development should be approached from a long-term perspective; and enterprises should pay attention to poverty issues in backward areas and go deep into the community while putting people first. Boosting poverty alleviation through industrial development must remain a top priority for promoting a balanced and sound development along the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
