Chairman Yan Attends the 4th International Silk Road Forum Held in Paris as a Dialogue Guest

The 4th international Silk Road Forum was held in Paris on December 7th. Chinese Vice Premier Hu Chunhua, Director of the Development Research Center of the State Council Li Wei, Former Prime Minister of France, Jean-Pierre Raffarin and other guests attended the forum and made speeches. Officials and representatives from around the world called for jointly building the Belt and Road and promoting global sustainable development.

 Mr. Jean-Pierre Raffarin says international cooperation is particularly important when facing severe challenges in the world economy, and the Belt and Road Initiative helps to promote international cooperation. Mr. Li Wei, says that China is the initiator of the Belt and Road Initiative, and jointly building the Belt and Road calls for supports and cooperation from other concerned countries.

 Chairman Yan shared his views on building the Belt and Road Initiative from the perpective of cultural dissemination, green development and mixed ownership. He thinks that culture is the key to connect people from different countries and nations and building the Belt and Road Initiative calls for more efforts in culture dissemination.

 He stressed in his speech that there is a well-known National Geographic photographer who spent eight years retracing the footsteps of Marco Polo and Zheng He and shot 300,000 precious pictures. In response to the country’s Belt and Road Initiative, Reignwood Culture Foundation has planned the Silk Road Journey –Belt and Road Photography Global Exhibition, showcasing these pictures to the audience, and till now, the exhibition has been held for 17 times. The Silk Road Journey –Belt and Road Photography Exhibition Global Tour displayed the evolution of natural landscape, people and culture along the ancient Silk Road, and thus promoted people’s understanding of the Belt and Road Initiative.

 Chairman Yan also proposed that countries should encourage enterprises to engage in building the Belt and Road initiative and establish specific institutions to give policy support and guidance to enterprises. Besides, speaking of building the belt and road initiative, Chairman Yan highlighted the green development concept. He suggested that a complete set of green standards should be established for green insurance, green finance and green construction, etc. and we should better leverage green finance to provide capital support for building the initiative.
